Common Noritz Problems We Fix

Noritz code 11 indicates ignition failure. This is often caused by a gas supply issue, dirty igniter electrode, or faulty PCB. We inspect the full ignition circuit and replace components as needed.

Code 16 means the unit shut down due to overheating, typically caused by scale buildup in the heat exchanger restricting flow and causing excessive heat. Descaling usually resolves this.

Condensing Noritz units require periodic condensate neutralizer replacement. Code 29 is the maintenance reminder — a routine service we can complete .

Noritz units require a minimum flow rate to activate. A clogged inlet filter screen or failing flow sensor can cause the unit to not fire. We inspect and clean the inlet filter as part of every service call.

Noritz units are sensitive to venting configuration. Improper vent length or termination causes error codes and shutdowns. We inspect and correct venting as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

To reset a Noritz, press the On/Off button to power down, wait 30 seconds, then power back on. If the error code returns immediately, the underlying fault needs repair — call us for a prompt diagnosis.

Recurring Noritz error code 11 (ignition failure) usually indicates a gas supply issue, a failing igniter, or a dirty flame sensor. In Los Angeles, intermittent gas pressure fluctuations during peak demand can also trigger code 11.

Yes. We service all current and discontinued Noritz models. Parts availability for older units varies — we can advise on whether repair or replacement is the better option based on the unit's age and condition.

Given Los Angeles hard water conditions, we recommend descaling Noritz tankless units every 12–18 months to prevent scale buildup in the heat exchanger and maintain efficiency.
